Chic Kitchen Furniture For Big and Small Kitchens
When you think of kitchen furniture, why is it that a mere set of table and chairs and a basic kitchen set comes to mind? Your kitchen, whether small or big, can be converted into one of the most elegant corners of the house. Yes, just a few pieces of creatively arranged furniture can make your kitchen a chic place to be.
The furniture for kitchen comprises kitchen islands, cabinets for pantry and other items, counter tops, and others. Wood furniture, glass and marble tops never go out of style. They can completely transform the look of your “home food factory” (read kitchen).
With cabinets, you can do more than you think. You can paint them in contrasting colours to make them stand out in the entire kitchen paraphernalia. Or you can merge them with the other furniture pieces by a complementing colour. You can add patterns or designs to them to give a dramatic look or funky look, depending on your taste.
Shopping for kitchen furniture is more exciting and easier today, thanks to the internet and the huge collection by manufacturers. Whether you desire a rustic look, contemporary look, or an ultra-modern style, research online and get what you want. Cabinets come in such a variety that they cater to all kinds of kitchen needs. There are double door ones, single door ones, those with six racks, or a couple of tall shelves. There are ones with smooth wood finish, or textured to suit your personal tastes.
The Trendiest Piece
One of the trendiest kitchen furniture pieces is wicker and wire. Place a black and white wicker and wood trash bin in a corner of your kitchen and watch the spot come alive. It looks more than a trash bin. Wood painted in black and white gives a fabulous contrast to your plain towel or linen holders. A wooden cutting board added to the kitchen top completes the look of your kitchen.
If you have got a tiny kitchen where you cannot afford to place those fancy and huge counter tops, dining sets, and loud cabinets, relax. There are compact furniture pieces that not only leave more room in your kitchen, but also make it look stylish within a small space. The specially designed kitchen islands feature a narrow counter-height table, plus a pair of small stools that you can slide under the island groves to make space.
Besides this, there are many other kitchen furniture styles and varieties that would fascinate you and you would want to grab them at the very moment!
Organizing the Linen Closet
Closets many times seem to be a catch all because they are closed most of the time so no one can see inside. Most of my clients say they open the door and close it right back up because it looks like such a daunting task to organize it. It can be very overwhelming when things fall out and you can not find the item you are looking for without taking out 10 other items. We are going to look at different types of closets over the next few months.
The first one we will be organizing is the linen closet. Some of my clients have more than one or are using cabinet space in their bathroom for some linens and that is fine if it makes sense in your home.
We start each project by taking everything out of the closet. Many of my clients try to organize without this step and it just never works. They also try to buy containers before the project starts and that just does not work because you do not know how much you will have store so you do not know the container size. Do not skip this step.
Next, we decide what we want to keep in the linen closet. How many sheet sets do you have for each bed and are they matching? I recommend 2 sets per family member bed, and if you use flannel, 2 sets of summer and 2 sets of flannel for each bed. This way, when you change the bed, it is not necessary to immediately wash the sheets. For guests beds, I recommend 1 set of summer and 1 set of flannel. Unless you have consistent guests, it is not necessary to store that many sets. Remember the pullout couches and futons too. Store the current season close to the bottom while the out of season sheets should be stored higher. Store the guest linens together in a tote to keep dust and bugs off while they are not in use.
Towels should be separated into patterns or color. Some bathrooms have room for the towels. How many towels should you keep? That depends on how often you change towels. If you are every 3 days, I would say 2 to 3 sets should be kept. If you change towels once a week, then 2 sets is probably enough.
If you have travel size items in your linen closet, try to purchase a container that will keep them all in one place. If you have room in the guest bathroom, store all the extra necessities such as shampoo, toothbrush and razors in a container in the cabinet to make it simple for your guests. Make sure you tell them you have extras in case they forget or run out.
Once you have made the decision what to keep, how many, and in what container, start to put your items back in areas where it makes most sense. Items rarely used should go farther up in the closet. Make items easy to reach if you use them frequently.
The last step should be to label the containers so you and others know where they are kept. Many of my clients also label the shelves to help them keep everything organized.

Cleaning Your Kitchen With Microfiber Cloths
Keeping microfiber cloths in the kitchen can be a big help. It suits your everyday kitchen needs.
Most of us keep paper towels ready so we can wipe up spills, oil from cooking or simply as a handy way to wiping hands and sticky faces. Microfiber cloths easily do the same thing, without the waste. Instead of pulling out a piece every time something happens, simply pick up your microfiber cloth and get to cleaning.
Cleaning with microfiber is uncomplicated because the fabric does the cleaning for you. Compared to cotton dish rags, microfiber towels are far more absorbent. If you prefer to do your dishes by hand or have to because the dishwasher load isn’t full, it easily dries plates without leaving streaks on your glasses or damaging your china. It won’t leave lint on your flatware. You don’t have to switch rags in the middle of drying because your dishrag is soaked and is more of a hindrance than a help. You can use it to wipe Teflon cookware without scratching the coating at all.
Microfiber mops can wipe up spills on floors leaving no residue behind. This lessens slips or falls in the kitchen. They also clean floors better and in less time.
Using microfiber towels on linoleum or tile to wipe up water or a spill from cooking (or simply from eating) is another way to make your life in the kitchen much easier. Oil is easily wiped up because microfiber has oil absorbing properties that trap oil inside the fiber until it is washed out. You can use it to wipe around the stove after frying or after cooking a meal. Imagine that the microfiber cloth is filled with tiny vacuums that actually sweep up the dirt from the surface.
It’s great for cleaning surfaces and kitchen appliances, even the stubborn burnt pieces left at the bottom of your oven toaster. It saves you so much time because all you have to do is wipe them down with the microfiber towel.
Microfiber lasts so long you don’t have to replace them for years. Unlike paper towels, which you need to restock. Not only that, when microfiber is rinsed out, the oil and grime is removed from the fiber simply with running water. You don’t have to worry about handling disgusting slimy dishrags that feel like they’re going to sprout colonies of germs at any time.
Microfiber also cleans dust, allergens and bacteria so your cooking and eating areas will be contaminant free. A study by a British Columbian university concluded that: “microfiber kitchen towels, cloths and mops, used with only regular tap water, are 99.94% effective in removing bacteria from smooth surfaces, as compared to conventional cloths and mops used with Lysol or bleach, which were only 91.86% effective.” This gives you peace of mind when preparing food for your family and friends.
Investing in microfiber dish cloths and mops keep your kitchen clean, saves you time and effort and even helps the environment (imagine, no more paper towels, ever!)
