The bathroom furniture could be anything which is suitable for the space of a bathroom. Generally bathroom furniture have three models, which are modular model, immovable model and standalone model. The modular furniture is bits of furniture which are collected from a variety of stores then put together to meet the requirements for the bathroom. It can be clumsy since usually these furniture have unmatched designs and shapes. These are seen in common traditional bathrooms.

The stand alone furniture could be the vanity unit which allows lots of space to store unwanted items into one concealed space, but the outer part remains perfectly tidy and neat. The Immovable furniture usually include wall mounted ones which are best for the small bathrooms which need extra space.

The bathroom furniture usually comprise of chest of drawers, medicine cabinets, and other sorts of wooden, willow, bamboo, synthetic fibers. For a maker of modern home, the style of vanity and cabinets should contain a matching vanity mirror with a cabinet right above the sink where the people can keep cosmetics, shaving creams and hair styling gels.

The sort of furniture which people require should be chosen according to the bathroom’s size and the number of family members. Because the bathroom could be the highly busy area, if there exits just one bathroom in the home, the furniture should be chosen to suit the whole family.

PostHeaderIcon Easy Sewing Projects For Beginning Quilters and Anyone Else

OK. So you have decided to take the plunge and start quilting. The challenge is that you do not feel comfortable with your sewing machine. What you need are some easy projects to get you started, but that do not feel like you are wasting your time. The following list of projects make great gifts and you will also have great practice when it comes to tackle your first quilt.

Wallets

Wallets are wonderful. What I’m thinking of specifically, is the Wonder Wallet pattern by Lazy Girl Designs. I’ve made so many of these because they are easy and practical. Over Christmas I used them as gift card holders. Because they only use half a fat quarter, you can go crazy over novelty prints without taxing your budget. With this pattern, you will get used to sewing in a straight line and using your walking foot.

Once you are confident with wallets, your next project can be a quilted purse.

Pillowcases

Pillowcases are all straight lines. Again, using novelty prints, these makes great gifts for young kids. I made pillowcases last Christmas out of High School Musical flannel. My nieces loved them!

Another benefit is that once you feel confident with your skills, you can make a quilt out of the same material. The recipient will get both the quilt and pillowcases. Now that is thoughtful!

Coasters

Folks who work in offices will appreciate a set of coasters to keep their desks nice. The upgrade for this project will be place mats to match the coasters.

Bookmarks

A quilted bookmark is the perfect gift for the reader in the family. You can choose the fabric and design according to the recipient’s hobbies. Adding a book with this gift would be a nice touch. Another option is just to make a bookmark for yourself. I know that I have a hard time keeping up with them.

Tote bags

You can easily find tote bag patterns all over the Internet for good reason – they are easy and practical. If fact, you can have a tote bag for different reasons. You could have a tote bag for the grocery store, a tote bag for the library and a tote bag for work. You’ll learn how to sew in a straight line. If you are a ready to branch out, you could use a quilt block as decoration on the bag.

Cranking out wallets, pillowcases, coasters, bookmarks and tote bags will have you getting comfortable with your sewing machine in no time. While you’re producing lovely handmade goodies, you’ll also be preparing yourself to start quilting.

PostHeaderIcon Shoe Closets Allow For Great Storage and Organization

Where do you keep your shoes? In a heap under the kitchen table? In a pile by the front door? Perhaps it’s time you explored the fascinating world of shoe closets. That’s right – a closet for your shoes. And shopping for the right one is almost as much fun as shopping for the shoes that go in them.

Unlike closet organizers, a shoe closet is more than just a bunch of boxes glued together to make a shoe cubby. I have nothing against shoe cubbies, mind you. They can be a practical, inexpensive and functional addition for closet or bedroom. But nothing beats a nice piece of furniture. I’m not talking custom cabinets, here – that can be a very expensive proposition. However, there are alternatives that can stills be attractive amenities to your home.

Shoe closets are available in a plethora of styles, types, and finishes. There’s sure to be one that appeals to you and that coordinates with your existing decor.

The bench types are functional and attractively upholstered with a shoe cubby in the base. They come in a variety of cushion patterns and colors, and materials including leather. I love their versatility. Because they come in a range of widths, they can easily be incorporated at the foot of just about any bed without taking up precious wall space. They’re just as functional in a walk-in closet as they are in an entryway. Some even have sock drawers located just below the bench cushion.

There are also bench styles with drawers that pivot forward, just like the freestanding types with the same style drawer. (Those come in single to triple high units in various furniture styles and finishes. Most are “assembly required”, so have a handyman ready if you’re not good at following directions or handling a screwdriver.)

If you can’t deal with neatly placing matching pairs of shoes on a shelf that folds into the bench, perhaps a basket type unit would suit you better. Multiple baskets that slide in and out of the base under the cushion(s) seem to work well for reforming slobs and training children, (ie. husbands and kids – sometimes indistinguishable from one another.) Each one gets their own basket and all they have to do is toss in their shoes. It may take a bit longer to find a pair, and you can’t be picky about the bottoms of shoes touching the tops of others, but it’s better than tripping over them as you walk through the front door.

For those with extra wall space, the double door type cabinets with built-in shoe cubby are a beautiful addition to your bedroom ensemble. You can get these in single door widths, too, but obviously, those don’t hold as many shoes. Both widths are available with sock drawers above the shoe cabinet. For an organization junky, this is the coup de’tat: shoes and socks in the same place!

Of the myriad of choices in shoe closets, there is sure to be one that will turn out to be the best buy you’ve made since those purple Prada’s were on sale at Neiman Marcus. Okay, so you get your shoes at Payless – you’ll still wonder how you ever got along without this awesomely practical and totally cool looking piece of furniture.
